Press On

"Press On", a poem by Gregg Hake The rains of July Now moisten the sky And puddles Are forming below. The rhythmic cascade Now darkens the shade And robins Retreat to the bough. And yet I press on Unfazed by the sight Though damp from the blight To publish this poem at dawn.

Commission

I saw an angel peeking through Your eyes one summer day. Whole, resplendent, wise and true She pointed to the way. I took at once the path she bade Toward the eastern light. And walked until the vesper shade Slowly turned to night.
