Worry and Fearful Thinking

Worry and fearful thinking have momentum. They do not want to end. If you fight worry and fearful thinking, struggle with them, or try to resist them, you will give them energy.

Struggle with implies subjection to, always.

Worry and fearful thinking act like metastatic cancers in the mental and emotional realms. They spread quickly if the are unchecked. If you’ve ever worried about something, you probably experienced the creep of worry into other unrelated areas. After all, according to Murphy’s law, anything that can go wrong and will, to me, right?

To escape the grip of these two vampiric patterns, you must first come to terms with the destructiveness and futility of these ways of thinking. You must admit to yourself that they rarely lead anywhere useful. In fact, they tax and deplete your mental and emotional reserves, leaving you with little to meet the actual challenges when they appear in your field of circumstance.

If you think or feel that these are useful approaches to living, then you won’t let go of them. If, however, you come to your senses enough to see that these two patterns serve only to draw the object of your concern closer to you, then you realize that your only choice is to let go of them.

To let go of, you must let go to.

To let go to without reproducing the same paralysis that leads to metastasis, you must let go to something higher, more powerful, than that which is presently holding your attention. It’s a simple matter, really, but it takes dedication and practice.
