“To Be”, a poem by Gregg Hake
Singular.
Whether carved in stone by an artistic god
Or hewn by the invisible blade of kindlier nature,
The mighty Matterhorn stands tall and proud
In defiance of both time and gravity.
Bold, craggy.
He rises with the sun, his head held high;
His faces inspire reverence and awe,
Yet he, quiet as the morning sunlight
Asks nothing. Expects nothing, but to be.
Your words are “hewn by the invisible blade of kindlier nature,” and are most excellent. Your words inspire to be such an example. Thank you.
