“If time be of all things the most precious, wasting time must be the greatest prodigality, since lost time is never found again; and what we call time enough always proves little enough. Let us then be up and doing, and doing to the purpose; so by diligence shall we do more with less perplexity.” Benjamin Franklin
Anything you undertake in life will contain in it a central thread of purpose, the “why” of that activity. Efficiency in living is determined in large measure by your ability to identify and remain faithful to it. Stray from it and your efforts will be scattered. Hew to it and your every thought, word, and deed will move in lockstep with the march of time.
Breadth and depth of accomplishment is something we might tend to think of relative to the life of Benjamin Franklin. It is amazing how much can be accomplished when purpose remains foremost in feeling and thought. Scattering comes where there are mixed purposes, and a life can so easily be wasted on that basis!

How essential to determine the “why” in each activity, if the why aligns with truth, we can be assured then that our lives are not lived in vain. Thank you Gregg for this timely reminder.

Why, is always the magic or missing ingredient for every endeavor. It doesn’t guarantee or nullify the appearance of the success of it; so oft times that may not be apparent to anyone but ourselves. Being industrious or prolific doesn’t make up for wasting our time or misappropriating it. It still may be we are not keeping our end of the commitment we made with our creator to be here. I believe we each have a specific part to play that has everything to do with our why. Helpful question to as ourselves. Thanks for the post!

Bringing all things back to purpose allows that purpose to have greater expression. Then that can hew or design the life that is meant to come through us. Orienting to purpose opens the door for something so much more than we can imagine. To be in sync with this makes for wondrous living.

Without that purpose, you end up wasting time (which I agree, is most precious!). Time is going to past regardless of what we do – why not learn to live time to the fullest accomplishment of our purpose!
