Mind the Gap

Mind the Gap by Gregg Hake

I stare intently at the
Break
In the page
The line-
Half written
The thought-
Half formed
The feeling-
Still shallow
Familiar shapes
Then nothing.

I march boldly forward and
Ply
The gap
Between known-
And unknown
Between light-
And dark
Between order-
And chaos
Giving form
Yet unsung.

Love this intimate glimpse of the processes of formation. Negotiating that gap sensitively and without fear or jumping to conclusions makes all the difference!

This is a situation that can be uncomfortable when it is unfamiliar. Yet as it is experienced more and more, the realization will come that it is often just part of the creative process. Like a seed planted in the soil, thoughts and ideas must be given a germination period. Just because it doesn’t spring forth immediately doesn’t mean that anything is wrong, and a panicked reaction often does more harm than good.

Learning to ply the gap courageously is vital to creating effectively.
