Just Today

I sat beside the fire once
In the cool of day,
I sat beneath the spire once
In the month of May.

I sat upon a hill once
Far above the fray,
I sat below the sun once
And wallowed in its ray.

I knelt before my God once
And then began to pray,
I rose at His command once
And that was just today.

By approaching life “One day at a time” there is a great deal that can be accomplished. It keeps things in perspective, and allows us to be present in the present, thereby changing the future.
In certain cases it must be “One moment at a time” to maintain such stillness.
I’ve greatly appreciated your consistent pointing to the state of relaxation required, and must say, it works in assisting others without them even knowing, just beautiful in action!
    Thanks again Gregg!

    Exellent! I love this!

Psalm 46:10….. “Be still and know that I am God….”

“When you feel overwhelmed and you’re tempted to take everything into your own hands, you have to make yourself be still. The battle is not yours. The battle is the Lord’s.” Joel Osteen

I believe that so many of us forget to “be still.” It’s hard to let go and relinquish control. If we quiet ourselves, we open our ears (& hearts) to hear what we need from God and begin our path to our own freedom.

We have to be quiet enough in our hearts to hear that command. Prayer is essential to developing the ability to perceive and understand those commands, and how to act upon them in our daily lives.

Hearing God’s command, recognizing it and following through is the most that each can aspire to. It’s both humbling and magnificent to realize this experience is available to every person on Earth in each moment. The truth is so elegant and it’s simplicity makes it even more so. I love your original poetry, it’s imagery fills my heart. Thank you!

God’s commands are available to all, in every moment, if only we are sensitive enough to hear. His commands have little to do with any manufactured set of human rules, and much to do with the cycles of the natural world that affect all things. The commands are there, but we must be in proper position.
