Life’s Spark!

Life’s Spark! by Gregg Hake

Life’s spark, flung from truth’s flint
Smolders in hearts of men
Red glow, dense smoke like dragon’s nostrils
Anxious to cast fire on the face of the deep
Refining, transmuting the unknown
Ashes to ashes, dust to dust
High and mighty brought low
Singed falsehood strewn about
Yet firmly steps he through the wasteland
Clouds of ashes choking air once filled with
Dawn’s mist, waters of truth
Condensing from the firmament to greet the day
Awake! he cries to the slumbering masses
Who warm themselves with tattered blankets
Made threadbare by apathy, hatred, lies and death
Cast off thy robe of infirmity! woven in darkness
By tailors whose keepers of the house tremble and seize
Catch my spark! and bare your flint to the light
The light of life which seems afar but is not
Tend reverently the live coal placed lovingly with tongs
Upon the altar of your heart
Take out thy broom! and sweep away the path
Which leads to righteousness and understanding
Make way! for life’s spark, flung from truth’s flint
To kindle the refiner’s fire, extinguished no more.

This is a beautiful poem, both in the words themselves and in their meaning. It is important to know that it is our responsibility to keep that coal hot, the fire kindled, and the path clean so we may see the path we are meant to take.
It is a shame that the perception remains that righteousness is a difficult or long process. It is available to us right now, this instant.

These words make me feel that a spark loses its purpose if it does not catch fire. May we all prepare the conditions for this to be so!

I think apathy can be more deleterious than even hatred. The latter commits to a direction that has its inescapable results. The former seems useless to either direction but holds the promise it may be inspired. I love your blog it inspires me!

Life’s fire has not been extinguished. It might appear so to look upon the state of the world; you could think all is lost. My thoughts echo your poignant words. A small coal can be rekindled to a roaring inferno if stoked correctly. It is up to each one in our daily living to apply the principles of righteousness. The light will be seen and the heat felt. Lasting change is possible if we take seriously the power we each wield through a heart and mind devoted to the expression of our higher self. Your imagery is vivid, thank you.
