What if…

Tonight I am filled with questions, the answers to which would undoubtedly drastically change the course of my life, if not the course of all of humanity. These are not new questions, in fact they have been asked and generally unanswered for thousands of years.

What if this planet was not ours to dissect and exploit for personal or tribal gain, but ours to tend and steward? What if the purpose of a human life was not to maximize its pleasure or power, but to reveal its inherent meaning and purpose? What if the oldest stories—tales of disobedience and disagreement that resulted in individual and collective self-exile and collective amnesia—were not elaborate yarns woven into tall tales, but instead a golden thread that leads directly back to the one story that matters most?

What if everything we have built over millennia of struggle and strife was in vain? What if the very premise of virtually all human activity for countless generations was mistaken?

What would we do? Could we face it? Could we look such an enormous tragedy, such a well-endowed beast, squarely in the eyes and unequivocally declare, “I fear you not?”

More than that, could we retract our allegiance from such a comprehensive, self-generated, self-centered, alternate reality—against the grain of everyone else on the planet—and pledge our allegiance to the revelation of a novel paradigm, “new heavens and a new earth,” as it was so eloquently put long ago? What really do we have to lose?

I am keen to do so and I trust that there are others like me on earth at this time. This is a call…to your calling.

  1. Wow, Gregory — here we are on our petite Spaceship Earth, all facing the same questions. What is my responsibility? How can I make this a better place/planet? I strive to make my best effort daily, and I know you do, too. Our little efforts must have at least the same benefit as the chirping lullaby of the birds, the groans and songs of whales, and the purring of kittens. It has to be the little contributions each of us make that matter the most! :)) Dawn

My recent post is my effort to express much the same: https://journalofdawn.wordpress.com/2024/02/11/my-goodness-project/

      1. I have to have meaning in my life — it can’t be I’m just here to pay my bills . . . So I keep looking and asking what I can do, with my two hands, with my background. I think it’s a good place to start :)) It must come from that higher dimension we refer to as God . . . Quantum . . . The Divine. It’s, for me, about looking upward and finding the good in the little, everyday encounters and things . . .
