“Those speak foolishly who ascribe their anger or their impatience to such as offend them or to tribulation. Tribulation does not make people impatient, but proves that they are impatient. So everyone may learn from tribulation how his heart is constituted.” ― Martin Luther
Your circumstances don’t determine who you are; they simply measure your character and bring out what is present in your heart. If you feel you are a brave, centered, and noble-minded person but then express fear, panic, or cowardly actions under the pressure of circumstance or untrustworthy relations, the latter were in you already. No one or no thing can make anything magically appear in you. You are what you express.
I find it interesting to consider your words in looking at the contents of my heart. As I look I see what does not belong and in further seeing I see what does as I come to rest in that which brings perspective and peace. When something does not feel right inside it is good to take a look before that which is not right is expressed when the pressure of a circumstance arises. Daily and as needed momentary purification does serve to bring what is inside into alignment with what our Soul has been designed to express. No use wallowing in regrets to our past expressions of fear, panic or cowardice. As we remember our true honor we can nobly express our birthright.
