A Beckoning Light

Savvy spider spins at night,
Heeding nature’s open call.
Crouched beside a beckoning light,
Her silky trap a moth does stall.

So with men when they can’t see
While marching along the Way.
For even with the One True Light,
Cloaked schemers wait upon their prey.

We search and search to find the light,
Stumbling along the narrow passages of night.
Cursing the darkness and all that it holds,
While the light exists within our own soul’s folds.
We need only to open the golden cape,
To see within us already the answer it takes.
