Morning Glory

Morning glory and the bee by Sunthorn Phu

Morning has broken!
Morning glory with sweet smell
wakes up from the humming of the bees
and opens up to the glory of the morning
Fallen in love with the morning glory
the bee hugs and kisses its beloved one,
like a man fallen in love with his girl

No matter how wearying the day before might have been, you can always look forward to the freshness of the morning. The world breathes in throughout the day and breathes out through the night, so all is without form and void.

What shall you make of this new day, this fresh and as yet untainted beginning? Overlay it with the pains and sorrows of days gone by if you will, but know that life gives you a pristine opportunity to sing a new song as you rise to breathe in the first light.

  • This is a beautiful reminder of the choice we each make in how we greet the day.
My 3 yr old son one morning once announced upon awakening – “I’M BACK!” – as if that day was to be the best yet and he was going to give it everything he had. What a way to offer yourself to the day.

  • I love the sight of morning glories entwined around a fence. Their majesty is always a gathering point for bees and humming birds. Each evoke the beauty that is still but a promise. It’s a good time to humbly repent, forgive or both and give the day a chance.

  • This is a wonderful reminder that every day is a brand new day and we need not be chained to the past. Inherent in life is the opportunity to be in the present and sow the seeds for the future – it’s best to focus on our appreciation of this than concern about things we can’t change

  • I always look forward to the new day. I do my best to live in the moment, and with that comes the appreciation that each day has a cycle. There is always an ending and always a beginning, depending on your scope and point of view.
