Rhythmic Elegance

Luffing sails mark wind’s unseen breath
While beating wings carry lonely gull apace.
White cane’s clock-like tapping paint
Pictures from echoes in the darkness.

Gentle beating of newborn’s fragile heart
Quicken hearts worn by age.
Harmonic oscillation of my grandfather’s clock
Sings like cellist’s soulful vibrato.

Rhythm is elegance, life is pulsation.

Life without pattern would be flat and dull. It is the varied patterns of life that keep like interesting. Why then do we do our best to limit life’s patterns to the extremely familiar? I would bet that while initially uncomfortable, embracing new rhythms in life would be revolutionary.

What a beautiful picturesque poem. I love poetry that instantly creates paintings in my thoughts. Thank you for sharing this gem.
