If you want your world to expand you must invest now in a way that the
circumstances may not seem to warrant.
For instance, if you wish for advancement at work you are wise to get in a
little early, rather than come bustling in moments before the bell. Take the
time necessary to set the day and to shape the pattern of expectation of those
around you.
You might also be wise to shore up the loose ends in your character before the
pressure of new responsibility comes on. Be sure not to lose ground you’ve taken
while taking new ground. Keep the trail behind you well-groomed.
Your world is not likely to expand without you taking steps to let it expand. If
it does and you haven’t prepared for it, beware. You’ll have to work overtime
and it’s highly likely that you’ll miss something, if not something important.

I agree it is better to do what is required sooner than later. Taking inventory of our worlds is a good practice to let go of what does not belong as well as taking action on what can be done now for the onward and upward path.

This is great advice Gregg! If only this was taught in school and in the home. It is never too late, I have found, yet how welcomed these words would have been as I was beginning my journey into adulthood! Thank you.

Doing your best in whatever is the job at hand is NOT investing in a job or someone else’s business; it is investing in YOURSELF! I remember the advice I was given when I was in high school, beginning my first job. It was suggested I do everything I was asked and in addition, do the things others did not like to do. It has served me well. I found that not all the “unpopular” jobs were tedious. Many required learning a new skill or doing the thinking. As they say…you do the math! Great strategy!

This is excellent advice. It’s so important in life to continually seek to expand your tent stakes without looking for return. The very fact that you have invested without seeking instant pay back will return more than you ever expected, starting first with developing more character.
