A Clement Heart

The World’s Wanderers by Percy Blysshe Shelley

I.
Tell me, thou Star, whose wings of light
Speed thee in thy fiery flight,
In what cavern of the night
Will thy pinions close now?

II.
Tell me, Moon, thou pale and gray
Pilgrim of Heaven’s homeless way,
In what depth of night or day
Seekest thou repose now?

III.
Weary Wind, who wanderest
Like the world’s rejected guest,
Hast thou still some secret nest
On the tree or billow?

IV.
Tell me, Man, whose clement heart
Once served as Heaven’s first rampart,
Wilt thou concede to play thy part
And see that thou art widowed?

(I added the last verse .)

I think the widowship of the heart is unfortunately something that is self inflicted. Thankfully, though, it is not something that is irreversible. You lay the foundation and clear the path for the return of the clement heart to it’s other half every day with your posts, and it is something that needs to be done incrementally and constantly.

It’s important to review the content of our hearts as without playing their part in the larger perspective (balanced in life, the earth, mankind), it will always remain unfulfilled.

Poignant but a good question. It seems we’ve let our hearts follow our eyes. It always begins with the content of the heart. If we feel alone, we must remember, we are the ones that wandered.
