Flow Forward

I spent the better part of two days this weekend and last behind a chainsaw. My brother-in-law are clearing out the old and unsalvageable landscaping around my house in preparation for a new look. It’s one of those projects that takes time, that unfolds in stages, and that requires patience, diligence and careful attention to the conservation of momentum.

At the moment it looks like bomb went off in my front yard, though as with many changes, I am content to let go of what was to make room for what is yet to be. I’ve realized over the years that some changes you make or that are made for you appear negative at first glance, but if you let them flow forward you soon realize that space is being made for something new to rise out of the soil of your present circumstances.

To change one’s life:
1. Start immediately.
2. Do it flamboyantly.
3. No exceptions.

There is always that time of uncertainty after you take the leap but before the new system is established. This can be either the time when you stay open to the full range of possibilities that can replace the old, or you seize up, self-limiting what is possible before the new even comes in. To be efficient and effective at change, you have to be confident that there will be a time when things are up in the air.

Change comes to everyone and everything. Some people come kicking and screaming into the next phase of their lives, resisting and trampling the new sprouts of promise in their own lives. I’ve noted a few folks who have “gotten the hang” of how change plays out in all of life and they have learned to ride the wave, enjoy the momentum and have some, usually, excellent starting points as the new phase unfolds . But here is the real trick; don’t jump to a premature conclusion about your future in this new phase. Let the moments unfold like a blooming flower. The joy is in the process. When I stick to maintaining an open mind and heart I’ve always seen the fortune and blessings in the new phase. Good post ! It’s a very important point to understand and learn how to do elegantly.
