Order out of Chaos

Where you place your emphasis determines in large measure the quality and impact of your life.

Consider this for a moment. Every situation that comes your way will contain a mixture of orderly and chaotic elements. Fear or react to the chaos and you will tend to perpetuate the chaos, if not add to it. Appreciate the order already there – no matter how small a fraction of the total situation it may be – and you greatly improve the chances of you being part of the solution and not the problem.

Human beings are generally driven to bring order out of chaos. This compulsion is behind the development of every great civilization in history, it fuels the spirit of invention and it is the driving force behind every person who seeks to refine his expression in relation to the living of life.

Rather than worry, complain about or dwell on the chaotic elements in your life, choose instead to apply your mental, emotional and physical energies in a way that eventually brings order out of the chaos. Find the openings, look for agreement, and encourage reconciliation instead of whining about the limitations, struggling with resistance and fomenting discord.

Those who excel at bringing order out of chaos are those who understand what to emphasize and what to downplay. It’s actually not that difficult when you get out of the habit of reacting first and thinking later. Think before you act, with the goal of bringing order out of chaos and you will greatly improve your quality of life.

This is a great tip. I think that this ability is also enhanced if you have the attitude that you can handle anything that comes your way. You realize that while you may be in control to a greater or lesser degree in the situation as a whole, you are always in control of your reaction to that situation. The trick is to realize that your reaction can influence a situation for the better, and it’s not rocket science to do so. Pretty much all you have to do is keep calm to begin to take it on the right track, and then make decisions as they come to you.

“If you are reacting to the world around you, you are already one step behind. What you see, hear, taste and smell already happened, so when you react to those things you are struggling with the past. Again, you are existing, not living.”
Which requires one to be present in the moment, functioning from that place which was difficult to find words to describe.
Maintaining right orientation, allows one to be at the cross-over point, from where much more can rightly be done.
Internal order is a must, in facing the external chaos that is inevitable.
I personally look forward to taking full advantage of the opportunity to reprove this simple, and catalytic principle, for it brings everything under scrutiny and provides a wonderful starting point, about which something can be done immediately.
    Thank-you.
This day is looking to already be in much better order!

There are both naturally occurring and humanly engineered brands of chaos, but regardless of the reason for the chaos, there will always be a borderland between the orderly and the chaotic. Creation itself always involves this principle. Having misplaced so much of their creative capcity, however, people tend to substitute a domineering imposition for the natural expression that would evolve order out of chaos, or chaos into order, depending on how one looks at it!

This distinction between the wisdom and benevolence of dominion on the one hand and the cruel and dissonant imposition of someon’e idea of control, on the other, lies at the heart of what should concern anyone for whom integrity is a priority.

  4. Thank you for such a key to living an impactful and qualitative life. Your blog is very insightful relative to bringing to the surface of our awareness that which is inherent in the very nature of our beings. It is good to keep in mind that we are here to bring order out of chaos. And that the starting points for order are always at hand. Yes it has been said where our attention goes energy flows and results follow. It is good to be reminded to orient my energies to bringing order out of chaos. An order that is soft and strong new and refreshing true to the very nature of our beings.

What practical thinking. It’s true more chaos never brings order. What is emphasized is perhaps what is filling the screen emotionally and the thoughts as well. An interesting gauge might be when evaluating a situation see what is emphasized to us. It may give clues as to changes that can be made before we act. A useful consideration for me – thank you.

This is such an excellent point. There is always chaos round about. I think the problem lays in the fact that chaos is seen as a negative. If we see chaos as an opportunity to be creative, then we will be looking around for tools to bring order – whether it be physical, mental or emotional – instead of complaining about it. An artist doesn’t bemoan the blank canvas and all these colors (OMG, what am I going to do), he/she lets the spirit of creativity move them to create something beautiful and sees an endless variety of possibility.
