The One Within

An excerpt from “My Kingdom” by Louis May Alcott

I do not ask for any crown
But that which all may win
Nor seek to conquer any world
Except the one within.
Be thou my guide until I find,
Led by a tender hand,
Thy happy kingdom in myself
And dare to take command.

While I don’t advocate prayer in the traditional sense (God is not a genie in a bottle), I do feel that it is important to take time to bring to focus what you as an individual plan to bring to the table in your daily living. All that you need to live a meaningful, fulfilling life is already within you; you need not demand, pray, or beg for it.

Neither should you spend much time in complaint or negativity. These attitudes bind you to perceived lacks in and around you. In this sense, to borrow from the field of magnetism, you are “negative” to the wants, needs, and absences (perceived or real!) in the world around you and drawn to them. As a result, you are “positive” to your positively charged, radiant inner being…the angel that you are.

Hence the feeling of separation from God, from purpose, from meaning. Remember: two positives repel one another. To know the “happy Kingdom in [your]self” you must be willing to relinquish the sense of entitlement to being negative to the world around you and down on yourself. Negativity disrupts the natural flow of life.

Once you do that, the magnet in you can quickly (and will naturally) flip around. Your polarity will be restored and “taking command” won’t be so daunting because you will be in alignment!

    Thank-you for the re-alignment Gregg!
Thanks for answering last evenings concern, so clearly and concisely! (matters which I didn’t share with you, personally)
Fear and negativity have been vanquished!
A softened heart, has returned, one which requires careful maintenance and protection, moving forward!
Wouldn’t want to lose this “Happy Kingdom” ever again!

  2. This past weekend the Packer-Patriot game was slated to be televised by CBS that I was looking forward to watching. At the sceduled time when I turned the TV on I discovered that it was being blacked out in my area. Immediately I could not believe CBS could do such a thing! I felt I deserved to see or was entitled to see the game. In coming to my senses and further realizing from reading your post today that various things in the world can negatively dictate our experience from being pulled from what we externally want or feel entitled to. The gentle words of being led by tender hand bring to remembrance the invitation to and ability to constantly dwell in the “happy kingdom.” Thank you for the beautiful reminder.
