“Each second we live is a new and unique moment of the universe, a moment that will never be again. And what do we teach our children? We teach them that two and two make four, and that Paris is the capital of France. When will we also teach them what they are? We should say to each of them: Do you know what you are? You are a marvel. You are unique. In all the years that have passed, there has never been another child like you. Your legs, your arms, your clever fingers, the way you move. You may become a Shakespeare, a Michelangelo, a Beethoven. You have the capacity for anything. Yes, you are a marvel. And when you grow up, can you then harm another who is, like you, a marvel? You must work, we must all work, to make the world worthy of its children.” – Pablo Casals
The world is filled with children in adult bodies who were never told by someone who cared sufficiently to say: you are a marvel. It’s a tragic state, really, one that is due for correction.
Never one to sit idly by when I perceive a need, it gives me great pleasure to say to you today: you are a marvel. You may not feel like one but I can say with absolute assurance that you are one. It may be buried under layer upon layer of bad habits, failure and missed opportunity, but it is still there. There is a needle in the haystack, a light under the bushel and I am confident that you, working smartly, can reveal the marvel that you are to the world that you center.
The best way to get started is to pass along this message. Say to a few people in your world “You are a marvel” and I promise you’ll be amazed at what begins to blossom around you.
Looking for what is best (the marvel) in others is one of the most wise things that a leader can do. I have noted over the years how many respond, often with surprise, and just about always more than rising to the occasion where before in their lives they perhaps did not. If only at a younger age their parents, teachers, and family had of reminded them of the marvel that they are!
Thanks for this post today Gregg for it is a great reminder that we need, as starting points, to see the greatness in others in addition of course to seeing the marvel of ourselves. The miracle of life so to speak!

Thank you for pointing to the marvel of each one of us. If we are too caught up in ourselves we fail to see the marvel in those around us and from within us. There was a book written by BJ Palmer called,” The Bigness of the Fellow Within.” The acknowledgement of the treasure within all of us has been something that has been carried in thought for many years. Your post urges us to actually do it in our living.

Great piece by Pablo Casals!
The world in which we now live spends far too little time appreciating and celebrating the marvel in each one of us. Children see and hear little if anything indicating that they are a marvel.
I take this as a personal responsibility to always seek to help, especially children, starting with my own, see the marvel that is each one of them. No life is mediocre, never intended to be that way and never should be, in my opinion. Sometimes it takes a gentle reminder to help others wake up from their slumber and see the greatness that resides within each one.
I trust that your readers are more and more conscious of the impact they have on others and the positive difference each one can make in the world.
Thank you for continuing to provide daily inspiration and a call to right action.

I loved the quote today. Telling each child they are a marvel is a beginning and then showing how we honor that, by how respectfully we treat each person, will seal the deal. Children learn what they live and so do adults. We can re-teach ourselves and our fellows by being the marvel we are. Thanks Gregg.

All the dysfunctional routines and habits one has which then get superimposed by all the world’s problems can lead to a kind of robotic pessimism, and what I mean by that is that it’s almost like some malicious software has taken over and now the individual can’t even think right or act right. Just a passing biological glance at the human body reveals what a tremendous marvel it is that is part of the whole you, and when you start adding the ability to perceive on top of that, the petty things in life start to fall away pretty quickly.
I think it’s great how you consistently offer solutions to the various human problems highlighted in your posts, and I’ve noticed they often tend to be rather simple. In this case, it’s a matter of getting the ball rolling via a genuine complement that doesn’t flatter the ego, but gives direct respect to our marvelous heritage. Words crafted with sincere appreciation, especially when timed so right, can be so nurturing and helps to lift a tremendous weight off another’s shoulders. Many times without the unconditional attention given by another, these weights are impossible to lift by oneself alone.
