Weapons of Mass Construction

It is well-known that fission and fusion, two forms of nuclear reaction, release tremendous amounts of energy from relatively small amounts of matter. Weapons whose explosive energy is generated by fission are commonly known as “atomic bombs,” though the name is somewhat misleading as the energy released comes specifically from the nucleus of the atom.

Fission weapons can release the equivalent of upwards of 500,000 tons of TNT. Were those unfamiliar with fission to be asked which looked more impressive and potentially effective, 500,000 tons of TNT or the nucleus of an atom as viewed under an electron microscope, I imagine that most would choose the former. But appearances can be and often are deceiving.

Applying this same pattern of logic to the field of drug therapies in medicine, I have to wonder if the same faulty conclusions are being drawn relative to homeopathy, the system of medicine which is based on two fundamental premises: like treats like and less is more. There is little argument about the first premise from conventional scientists, as the same principle is used in widely used practices such as vaccination and allergy therapy. The debate over homeopathy revolves primarily around the second premise, that is, that less is more.

Physically speaking, such an argument appears to make sense. A big pile of TNT does appear more menacing than the nucleus of an atom. But from the standpoint of the deeper physics of the matter, that is, its energetic aspect, the argument becomes specious. There are over 200 years of the documented use, safety and effectiveness of this system of medicine, so it is a little bit hard to dismiss it outright, but caveat lector, many a useful technology has been discarded by the forceful hand of ignorance in human history.

We’ve lived for decades now under the specter of fear of the awesome power of weapons of mass destruction. Ironically, we’ve lived for centuries with a tool that may just be equally as powerful, but much less considered. Could homeopathy be a weapon of mass construction in the capable and caring hands of practitioners of the medical arts in the war against chronic disease?

Time will tell.

I appreciate your willingness to always question the status quo and commonly held beliefs. This is certainly food for thought and worth further consideration.

When something like homeopathy works one or two times it can be considered as a fluke, but when one see’s year after year after year that the same beneficial results occur, then surely we have to admit that this is not shear happenstance. I think that the science of Homeopathy give such wonderful evidence of the practicality of life. Less is more and the innate wisdom of the human body will do everything in its power to heal if we would let it! It boils down actually to what we have faith in. Thank you for your consistent food for thought.

Obviously there is a difference in how things are measured in conventional medicine utilizing especially biochemical and radiological markers. The use of magnetic resonance imaging is opening a field of awareness related to electromagnetic influences. Homeopathy is bioenergetic medicine that can only be rightly measured in a bioenergetic terms. And there are increasingly more instruments being introduced in the alternative/complementary fields of healthcare that take this into account. Yes time will tell how we can more effectively measure the value of modalities related to bioenergetic medicine as well as the continual proving of them. For now it really does relate to the individual experience that is known as one partakes in this way of healthcare which is all that matters anyway.

The study of physics in relation to biology is really a relatively young science, and its main proponents seem to have been drowned out in the mix of voices for various reasons. There really is so much more to discover than what has been discovered to date, and often the discoveries can be challenging to commonly held concepts. This is where the combination of an open mind and a powerful curiosity can be so vital.

Homeopathy does often get a bad rap, with people saying it doesn’t make sense biochemically or that double blind studies find no difference between homeopathy and a placebo. I have thought a lot about these issues, and I find that the skeptics have a lot of emotion tied up in this issue and seem to not be able or willing to look at the big picture.
I think that the reason that it doesn’t do so great in these studies (although some studies with good methodology have shown effect above placebo), is because homeopathy is so individualized. What works for someone will not work for another, and the potency of a remedy matters.
Just because we know a therapy does not work according to the molecule-docking model of most known medicines doesn’t mean it’s totally ineffective. Because there is more about science that is unknown than is known, and we know that the physical rules change when we get into the quantum mechanics model, saying that a method of therapy is ineffective because it does not conform to a known method of action is intellectually dishonest.
There have been so many times through history when something that was vehemently denied has been shown to be a keystone of progress through the lens of hindsight. I have a sense that homeopathy will be seen this way, and while it takes courage to champion something that is treated this way, I think that our perseverance to something that we have seen positive results from will be worth it in the end.

Intellectual dishonesty or dishonesty of any type is typically defended by emotionally-charged attacks. Pejorative or at least highly-charged words are used to establish the appearance of superiority and to put those against whom the attacks are pointed on the defensive. It’s an age-old tactic that has no place in pure science.

When I close my mind to ideas, other than what is viewed as “traditional”, I miss out on centuries of experience, simple elegant options or something newly created. Limiting ourselves to only what we immediately understand or “how we were taught” constricts the creative power that can solve problems. Most of the recent medical therapies have used such astronomical advertising budgets to broadcast their message the public (including many doctors) are convinced of its results with little or no thought to the cost. The ” just make me comfortable now” approach has a high price, often with our lives.

It’s a delicate balance when moving from the known to the unknown. The most important factor to me is determining whether the “known” being used as a reference point is really true or not.

Having availed myself of this therapy, one might call me prejudiced and that is probably true because the results speak for themselves…it works! Great post, thanks.

  8. In the field of medicine, as in all things, humans are bound by the thinking of their fellows, with few having the courage and wisdom to risk freeing themselves from this consciousness. We have a tendency to judge things by the appearance, you mention the weapons and their sizes and powers. Only when we are able to clearly see the results of something without the judgements, even to something being good or evil, right or wrong, shall we find it’s true value, no matter what it is. When anything is too simple, humans seem to fight against it even more. We feel that only by fighting and struggling we can create more value somehow. Homeopathy is a great example of where we humans stand today. It is not a generally accepted medical treatment here in our country. But when addressing health here, are not the results of the treatments, products, more important that what they are. When one is sick in body or mind, what is it that is most desired. Wellness! In my thinking, the path to that goal is of the ultimate and only importance, and nothing more.
