High Quality

Quality is not an act, it is a habit.” – Aristotle

I’ve had the good fortune to make the acquaintance of a number of high quality people over the years. Such people live uncommon lives, where every aspect of their living is reflective of a commitment to quality. How they carry themselves in public and how they manage their most private affairs are indistinguishable one from the other as every thought, word and deed hews to the same high standard.

Quality to me is the most elegant solution to any problem. Quality improvements typically come in the form of making things simpler, of stripping out the extraneous complications. This holds true in manufacturing as well as in living. Quality favors the right way over the easy way, the slow, but steady approach over the meteoric rise and attention to details over skipping to the supposedly “fun” stuff.

Quality means doing it right when nobody is looking.” – Henry Ford

Your words,”quality is the most elegant solution to any problem,” struck home with me. Such a simple statement with so many applications. This does apply to everything however I am quided to think on how it relates to health care and health problems. Just the thought of how quality can be brought into addressing a health concern seems invigorating and healing. Thanks for your words and encouragement to bring quality to healthcare as well as to all of my living.

Thank you – I must support this view here as I also favor the constant refining of efforts towards the optimal balance between efficiency and efficacy of effort, which is what to me proper simplicity is all about. The most clear, uncluttered and straightforward approach or explanation that would most likely bring resolution to the issue is the simpler one and the one that should be aspired to, lest effort and resources be wasted, let alone reason and principles. Otherwise the solution may arrive, but it will lose its elegance and thus its quality. As you say, elegance always comes with a sense of simplicity and this brings forth the trademark shine of quality!

I completely agree with this. Quality is an important thing to look for, both in friends and in possessions; but it is even more important to hew to quality without compromise in our own lives as well. Sometimes this will lose you friends, but better to lose a friend than to lose your commitment to quality in thought, word, or deed.

Quality is such a beautiful thing and I always appreciate it when I see it. I liked your view of quality of being an elegant solution to any problem and haven’t thought about it in that way before. Thanks!

I love quality goods and people, they improve every situation. Quality trumps quantity in most everything. I’d rather have a few of something that’s fine than a lot of poor quality..even when it’s supposedly free!
