The Seeds That You Plant

“Things turn out best for the people who make the best out of the way things turn out.” ~ Art Linkletter

Any fool can bemoan his circumstances. More noble is the man who, in every conceivable situation, makes the best of the occasion. In fact, those most remembered for their positive influence in human history consistently exhibited this singular quality of character.

No matter how delightful or awful the task at hand may be, you have the privilege of determining how you will handle it. The choice is always yours. Many people judge themselves into a state of paralysis and futility, using their judgements of their circumstances as an excuse for not handling the situation creatively. You hear them make statements like: “I don’t like how this looks or feels, so I am only going to make a half-arsed effort in relation to it” or “This is not how I thought it would be, so I am going to take my ball and go home.”

When you realize that what most people see as a harvest can more accurately be seen as an opportunity to sow, any negative attitudes held in relation to life itself can instantly be dismissed and replaced with a more constructive outlook. When you spend time or energy moaning and complaining about your life you waste your most precious resource.

Rather than seek to assign blame, look to assume and inspire responsibility.

“Don’t judge each day by the harvest you reap but by the seeds that you plant.” ~ Robert Louis Stevenson

Thanks for being so specific in your detail this morning. This really helped me!
Now I’ll be sure to inventory my day by recalling my opportunities, not worrying about the harvest! Let my new leverage begin!

Appreciate the simplicity of the starting point you brought up today.
This shift in conciousness, if it be taken to heart carries the potential to change everything!
Ruthless with ourselves and harmless to others.
    Thanks Gregg.
P.S. spring has sprung in Canada!!!!

We have a chance to let our lives be amazing – by taking responsibility and not blaming, which is just one more way that we can be men and women of character and inspiration. Thanks for this post.

From birth we are the reapers of many peoples harvests, beginning with our parents. We also are planters from the start. Since we can’t control what harvests we might reap the emphasis for parents should be teaching our children how to be a successful planter in spite of some of the reaping we might have to do in our lives.
This world would change overnight. We have become a world proficient at whining, complaining and blaming. All are excuses not to take responsibility to be the best person we can. Yes, those who master this are notable, because they are rare.
