Believe in yourself.

“We do not believe in ourselves until someone reveals that deep inside us something is valuable, worth listening to, worthy of our trust, sacred to our touch. Once we believe in ourselves we can risk curiosity, wonder, spontaneous delight or any experience that reveals the human spirit.” ~ EE Cummings

You are a remarkable person. Whether or not I have met you I can assure you that there is greatness resident in you. Whether or not you reveal that greatness is entirely up to you.

To reveal greatness you have to, in some measure, believe in yourself. For you to overcome, that belief must transcend the weight of your faith in your limitations, your shortcomings and your past failures. Great is the man who can experience a complete and total loss of all of his outer possessions and move on to victory as if nothing but the wind had changed.

If you depend more on the outer resources at your command than the inner resources – your conviction, your character, your determination – then you will at some point be overcome by the forces at work in life that seek to destroy the evidence of greatness. If, instead, you stay true to the core of you, what happens round about will be of no consequence to you in the sense that it will not change the spirit of your expression one iota.

If you have made yourself vulnerable enough to be inspired by another then you have an obligation, a sacred obligation, to extend that inspiration to others in your world. Listen to your world, hear the deepest concerns of those with whom you relate and take the time to invest your trust in a way that it most likely to be received.

Your world deserves it! And so do you!

E.E. Cummings’ quote is a great explanation of why we need each other and what we can do for each other. I read that what is right with a person is the point from which a person can grow and thrive. I’ve met people that were told from childhood what is wrong with them. You may find you’re the first person to tell them why they can believe in themselves. It is one of the responsibilities of human beings to see what is right in our fellow man and personally it feels good too!!!
Thanks Gregg…let’s start this ball rolling!

If our value is placed on something that is intransient, such as those inner resources that you mentioned, then we have all of the tools we need to successfully navigate life.

Thanks for your thoughtful words this morning.

Relaxing into an experience totally governed by that which is within, is a challenge worthy of me!
Letting go to that which is within and releasing it into my world, no matter the seeming discomfort to the EGO, to the end that others may know also what is truly available, that they too may answer their inner call to greatness and experience Heaven on Earth is my duty while here.
Thanks for reminding me of this Truth, Gregg!

I always feel very inspired by your blog. I understand that you don’t write these posts every day as a “feel good” measure, but in the hope that somebody will take the inspiration provided and use it to change their own life. I know that your writing has inspired many changes in me, and it is my hope that people will see, and therefore will be inspired to make a change in their life as well. That is a great way for true change in the world to happen. Thanks!
