Greater Forces

When the weight of the world is upon your shoulders and you find yourself on the brink of despair, you must take great care to remember that the greater forces in life are love, truth and life and not hate, lies and death. At such times the temptation to deny or betray that which you know to be true of love may be strong, but at the end of the day – no matter how grim the future may seem – nothing is stronger than the irresistible force called love, when combined with the immovable object called truth.

You are never alone, no matter how forsaken you might feel in the moment. Appearances can be deceiving and convincingly, viscerally so on occasion. Take care not to harden your heart through judgment in these crucial moments. Instead, be still and know that there are greater forces at work.

Footprints in the Sand (author unknown)

One night I dreamed I was walking along the beach with the Lord.
Many scenes from my life flashed across the sky.
In each scene I noticed footprints in the sand.
Sometimes there were two sets of footprints,
other times there were one set of footprints.

This bothered me because I noticed
that during the low periods of my life,
when I was suffering from
anguish, sorrow or defeat,
I could see only one set of footprints.

So I said to the Lord,
‘You promised me Lord,
that if I followed you,
you would walk with me always.
But I have noticed that during the most trying periods of my life
there have only been one set of footprints in the sand.
Why, when I needed you most, you have not been there for me?’

The Lord replied,
‘The times when you have seen only one set of footprints in the sand,
is when I carried you.’

I’ve always appreciated the common sense of the sentiment in this narrative. Mankind was to be a part of the Creator’s mechanism to create on Earth. He endowed us with the power to do our job and to protect us, that is love. To understand this there is a compliance required from us, beginning with what we allow to form in our hearts. Therein lies the connection to this force that trumps all others. It’s not vague when you let it in; it’s strength fortifies the body and illuminates the mind providing solutions heretofore unseen. Wonderful post, thank you!

I am thankful to take your words to heart and acknowledge them as putting oil in one’s lamp for vision to be kept in preparation for times of despair that may arise. Acknowledging the greater forces as always at work does bring comfort and assurance.
