When change doth come your merry way,
Fret not, rejoice for the new day.
And when the past doth fade to black,
Give thanks, move on and don’t turn back.
When change doth come your merry way,
Fret not, rejoice for the new day.
And when the past doth fade to black,
Give thanks, move on and don’t turn back.
The beauty of this day would be enough to be thankful for, the trick I think, is to be thankful even when things are not quite going the way one hoped. Sometimes people try to entreat other to be thankful saying things like…”think of all the starving people in India” etc. but to me thankful is like a prayer, it is a state of heart in which we need to abide. Thank you for your poem Gregg and for the opportunity to meditate a little more deeply on Thankfulness.

You can either embrace change and be the catalyst for it, or you can be carried kicking and screaming into the future. Either way change is coming, but in one scenario you’re in control and in the other you’re a prisoner.
You can’t make fear of change a part of your life, because eventually fear is all that you will have.

I read this a couple days ago, it was attributed to Taylor Swift, the young song writer. I thought it was a wise observation, “I’m beginning to think that you don’t find happiness from living your life looking ahead or back..that you find it when you look around.” She’s on to something but I hope she reads your poem – the giving thanks part is the golden scissors for moving on!!
