Everyman by Gregg Hake
Everyman is born into innocence,
His life an open book lain at his feet.
No man is born in sin or insolence,
Yet all are weighed upon the mercy seat.

Everyman is born into innocence,
His life an open book lain at his feet.
No man is born in sin or insolence,
Yet all are weighed upon the mercy seat.
It changes your whole outlook if you believe people were born into sin. Instead of an undertone of respect, there is an undertone to every interaction that people should be ashamed of their flawed humanity. Innocent until proven guilty is not just for a court of law…
We all have the ability to receive forgiveness, and we should be looking to find our perfect interaction in every moment rather than trying to make up for some perceived shortcoming.

The spirit of forgiveness brings understanding which softens the heart and in my view is one of the central elements that prepare us for the mercy seat. Thank you Gregg for the on going opportunity you provide to help us purify our hearts.

What an insightful and laconic verse! I have no doubt that each of our lives is an opportunity to be that transformer you described in yesterday’s post. Yes there will be circumstances beyond the control of our making but in the end of this life we’ll each be appraised for how well we fulfilled our commission. Bartering will hold no sway it is our hearts that will be examined.
