See It Through by Edgar Albert Guest
When you’re up against a trouble,
Meet it squarely, face to face;
Lift your chin and set your shoulders,
Plant your feet and take a brace.
When it’s vain to try to dodge it,
Do the best that you can do;
You may fail but you may conquer,
See it through!
Black may be the clouds about you,
And your future may seem grim,
But don’t let your nerve desert you;
Keep yourself in fighting trim.
If the worst is bound to happen,
Spite of all that you can do,
Running from it will not save you,
See it through!
Even hope may seem but futile,
When with trouble you’re beset,
But remember you are facing
Just what other men have met.
You may fail but fail still fighting,
Don’t give up whate’er you do;
Eyes front, head high to the finish,
See it through!
If you have lived for any amount of time you have likely experienced a rough patch or two along the way. Whether as a result of your own decisions or the choices of others, the configurations of circumstance that come across the plate are yours to handle.
You may enlist the assistance of others or they may rush to your side to prop you up in times of adversity, or at times you might find yourself alone to face the adversary. Regardless of how many are involved, say to your world, “the buck stops here” as far as that which is yours to handle is concerned.
Take not refuge in the arms of despair, for she is a cruel mistress. “Don’t give up whate’er you do…Eyes front, head high to the finish, See it through!”
love this poem and post!
i recently finished a great book about just this point – Lone Survivor – about a Navy Seal’s experience thru training and tours in the Middle East – it represents a willingness, and the ultimate courage in the face of extreme adversity, to go all the way.

These are great words in times of trouble or difficulty. It doesn’t matter that hard times come, because they come to everyone. What matters is how you handle them.

Having had an ample share of bleak days, I’ve realized by facing things as straight on as possible it can open the possibility of unexpected grace. I guess this can’t be the reason for doing my best but i have found it has blessings we can’t anticipate.

I appreciate your encouraging words this morning,
will do,
Facing the adversary alone is the only way one can arise victorious, for it is within us that the battle takes place or is finished.
Let it be finished, because I am unwilling to fight any further, the buck stops here….Get thee hence!
Thanks Gregg!
